When most people think of name tags or event badges, they picture the usual: a name, a company, maybe a job title. But at IDLine, we think they should do a whole lot more.
With the ability to include up to 13 fields of variable data, we take standard badges and turn them into fully personalized tools; for connection, organization, security, and even a little fun.
Imagine attending a conference and your badge doesn't just say who you are; it tells a full story. Not just your name and pronouns, but your role at the event (Speaker, VIP, Vendor), the languages you speak, how many years you've been part of the organization, and even your session track. Add in a photo, a QR code linking to your LinkedIn, and a bold stripe of color to help others instantly recognize your area of focus, and suddenly your badge isn’t just helpful, it’s powerful.
But personalization doesn’t stop on the front.
We often use the back of the badge to include attendee-specific info like their personal session schedule, booth assignments, or even hotel and shuttle details. This kind of behind-the-scenes customization keeps events running smoothly without anyone needing to pull out their phones or maps every few minutes.
Want to take it even further? Add a perforated tear-off section at the bottom of the badge. These can be personalized too; printed with drink tickets, meal preferences, or allergy indicators. They’re great for raffles (just print the attendee’s name right on the stub), or as reusable meal cards for multi-day events.
The possibilities with variable data are nearly endless, and when used creatively, your badge becomes more than just a piece of plastic, it becomes an experience.
